The FIRST Snow!

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it SNOW!

This snow day is the FIRST of many....
  • The FIRST snow of the 2011 Winter (in the Tri-Cities at least)
  • The FIRST snow of the New Year 2012
  • The FIRST snow for Bella pup!!!
AND....
  • The FIRST snow for Bradleigh!!!
We have been hearing the weather man say, "Snow is on the way" all weekend and week long. So, when they said we would be getting snow over night, we did not take them seriously.

Well, they were right for once! :) We woke up to a beautiful snowy morning with a good 4+ inches on the ground already. It was quite the blizzard and it is STILL snowing!! The dogs were outside in no time romping around the the freshly fallen powder this AM...Cabela was having a FIELD day! She is already a hyper little thing, but oh my, was she flying around like a maniac in the snow. Of course Maverick likes his snow time too - he buries his toys in the snow and then pounces on them to retrieve them. They are too funny.

Cabela pouncing in the snow...stalking Maverick.

Cabela trying to be camouflage in the snow, haha!

Mav going after his ball he buried...

Snow buddies!

We took little B out for a very quick sneak peak at the snow. I thought he might freak out with the snow falling in his face and with it being so cold. But much to our surprise, he actually seemed to really enjoy it!!! :) He was giggling and wiggling about the whole time.

Checking out the snowflakes...not sure what to think!

Having fun in the snow with momma!

Our precious little snow bear

Love the snowy weather when we don't have to worry about being out and about! There is nothing better than snuggling by the cozy fire with your loved ones, enjoying the view and sipping hot cocoa & tea! We will continue to enjoy this Winter Wonderland outside from the INside. We hope that those who do have to venture out are safe and get home to their loved ones for snuggle time quickly!! :)

Football time!

This year we have really gotten into watching the NFL playoffs...so Saturday and Sunday you can count on football taking over the TV. Little B got all decked out in his football gear to watch the games this weekend with Daddy. :) Go Team!! PS - his pants have a little football on the toosh - so cute! Oh and thanks Kelly for the hat! It finally fits him pretty good!

2 months old

Today Little B had his 2 month wellness check-up! We cannot believe it's been TWO months already!! He is growing sooooo fast and we love watching all his new developments each and every day. So fun!

All ready to go see the doctor...look at those lashes...LOVE them! :) Cutie Patootie!

His pediatrician said that he's "growing by the books" - meaning he is growing right on target. He now weighs 11 lbs. 9 oz.!!! He's gained almost 5 pounds since birth...and is in the 48th percentile for weight! He is 23in long...he's grown 2 inches since birth and is in the 54th percentile for height. Lastly, his head circumference was also in the 51st percentile at almost 16 cm around. He is one growing boy and he's finally getting some of that adorable infant chub on his little legs and cheeks. He is sportin' quite the pot belly these days too. ;)

The only downside to the appointment was his first round of shots - YUCKY! Poor little man had to get 3 shots and he was screaming his little head off. :( So hard for momma!!! And...lucky me...I can assume it only gets worse as they get older because they start to understand and realize what is coming. Boo! I think it's almost harder on me that it is on him at times. I just feel so bad. He has been quite the fussy little guy today too...so I know he's not feeling 100%. No fever yet though, good news there. We're snuggle buddies in the glider today! Ok, we snuggle every day, haha, but today we've been extra snuggly because he won't stay asleep for longer than a good 15 minutes at a time. I hope he feels better soon.

Other than the shots, his appointment went very well. We are trying some gripe water and mylicon drops to see if they will help with his gassiness and colic, too. If not, next comes acid reflux medication. Poor little man....I can't wait for him to get past all this so he can be his happy little self all the time. He is just so precious!!!

2 month photos - He has such personality - gotta love the faces!! :)

He has mastered the look Daddy gives Mommy already! Little stinker, haha!

Until next time....Peace out, Y'all! :)

Talking & Tummy Time

Bradleigh is growing by leaps and bounds every single day! He will be 9 weeks this Wednesday! He's started holding his head up pretty good during tummy time and he's become quite the little cooer and babbler, too! :) He started his cooing around 1 month, but he's really started talking away lately. We just LOVE watching him smile away and tell us stories...oh, so precious!! The BEST stories we have EVER heard for sure!!! Enjoy the videos as we captured a few of his latest developments.... (sorry the videos aren't really the best..I took them on my phone).

SLEEP! :)

Breaking news......Last night little B slept 6 WHOLE hours!!! Woo-hoo! We don't even know what to do with ourselves this morning!!! haha. I was shocked when I looked at the clock and saw the time!! :) I was so rested that I got up, made us coffee (which I delivered to my hubby in bed), and made a yummy waffle breakfast! W-O-W...that's sayin' something, haha! Haven't done that in a while now. ;)

I am SO glad our little man got some rest. I think part of his irritability (possibly colic I am thinking) was due to the fact that he has only been cat napping between each 2 hour feeding, so he's been exhausted!! Thank goodness he got some shut eye and we did too...there have been days where I have been quite cranky too!! haha! So far this morning, he has been back to feeding every 3 hours or so, up for a good 20-30 minutes and then back to solidly sleeping for a couple hours. phew! Maybe he was going through some growing spurts the last couple weeks too, which has been throwing him off schedule?!

We have been trying to get him down to bed earlier around 9 o'clock, with his last feeding at 8:00 or so. We would eventually like to have bedtime earlier than that, but 9 o'clock is certainly better than 11:00 or midnight at this point! :) YAY!!! Hopefully this is a sign that our routine is starting to work...even just a little bit!!

Growing boy!

We are quickly approaching 2 months, on January 11th and we cannot believe how much Bradleigh has grown in SO many ways. He is officially grown out of most all of the newborn outfits. Now, we're onto 3 month and some 3-6 month outfits! We also moved up a diaper size - and I discovered Diapers.com - which I LOVE! We had $15 off our last order of over 300+ diapers AND they delivered them for free. Sweet deal. As we are quickly figuring out how expensive diapers can get when you are going through approx. 80 diapers a week! :) Anyway, enough about my excitement with diapers...haha!

I have been beginning to work on establishing a schedule with our little guy. He is still nursing about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours around the clock. Sleeping through the night is still tricky...so far we've had a couple nights with 4-5 hours of sleep, but over the last week or so he has moved back to every 2 hours. I don't know if my milk isn't coming in enough for him or what....but even giving him a bottle isn't helping since he is still refusing formula, too! :-/ Luckily, we have his 2 month check-up next week, so we can check his weight gain and ask the doctor what he thinks about his feedings. I have been diligently keeping a log of his feedings and diaper changes so we can share it with the doctor too. I have tried weighing him on our bathroom scale, haha! I weigh myself first, then with him. The last time we tried that it was almost 11 pound difference...so we will see! He definitely is growing and getting some chub!!! :)

I have also cut out 2 of my favorite things while nursing - coffee, chocolate - well make that 3 - dairy, too (love my cheese and yogurt!) The last couple weeks have been a little better since I have limited my intake of these things. But before that we were really struggling with spitting up and fussiness (gas). We still have some days where his spitting up seems worse. :( He will spit up what seems like everything he eats at times...which I am sure is not normal...so it must be things I am eating?! Oh the trial and errors of new motherhood! haha. I just hope he's getting enough, poor little guy.

Today we had a rough morning with fussiness and spitting up...but he finally settled down and I couldn't help but record his content sighs. I just love his little sounds!!

He has become quite the smilely boy!! It has been fun watching him start to focus in on objects closely and begin to recognize our faces. There is nothing greater than waking up to a cooing and smilely little man next to you. Yes, he is still snuggling in with us at night too. :) He just doesn't seem to sleep as long when he is in the bassinet or crib. He seems to startle himself easier and not fall back to sleep. Probably starting a bad habit...be we are working on it! ;)

We're excited for his 2 month check-up next week..minus the shots. I am NOT looking forward to that piece one bit... I hope they are quick and somewhat painless for little B! We'll keep you posted on his appt details. :)
