My apologies as the past month has gotten away from me...as we finish up our final preparations for baby I haven't posted in a while! We have been busy with our 3rd trimester check-ups, finalizing babies room, attending birthing classes, and pre-registering at the hospital with a tour of the birthing center. So much to update on!!!
We have had our 32 and 34 week check-ups since my last post! Baby boy is very healthy and growing right along schedule :) At our 32 week check-up, September 13th, we were able to get one more sneak peak at our baby boy. It took a good 10-15 minutes to get him to cooperate in the right position for the shot, but we prevailed and were able to get a quick glimpse of his precious face.
32 weeks - He had a heartbeat of 137 bpm, weighed almost 4.5 pounds and
was in the 40th percentile for size :)
At our 34 week check-up on September 28th, all was well with baby boy and he was already facing down (getting ready for birth in the coming weeks!). I was fighting off a horrible cold at the time that was getting the best of me and doctor said I was at the beginning stages of acute bronchitis, so I got some antibiotics that worked wonders!! Thank goodness I am feeling much better. Aside from my 2 week sickness, I have been feeling pretty well, although more and more tired at times! Which I know is just a sign of what's to come. My little man and body are preparing me each day AND night, haha!
September also brought along our childbirth classes! Boy were they a HOOT. We are so glad we went because we learned some valuable information about birth tools, delivery, breathing and pushing techniques, breastfeeding, at-home care, etc. I really enjoyed watching Stephen absorb all the info. :) The first night of class, all mom and dad's were asked to share what they are most nervous for with delivery (as we were all first time parents, except 1 couple). Stephen's response was "That mom and baby will be ok AND that I will not pass out - I saw that video in highschool!!" HAHA
We were also introduced to all of the tools that could possibly be used during delivery. The nurse wanted us to be aware of what is being used and why when the time comes, which I thought was a nice to know! Anyway, the nurse was talking about the birthing videos we would be watching and also describing a heartrate monitor that can be screwed into the top layer of babies head, if the tummy monitors are not working and they need to find babies heartrate. I remember looking over at Stephen, who was dripping sweat and pale as snow! He was holding his head in his hands, trying to stay afloat! I could tell he was NOT doing well and thought "If he's having trouble now in classes - I can't imagine WHAT he will be like during delivery!" haha.
After introducing the tools, the doctor gave us a break before watching the videos - and Stephen was out of the room quicker than anyone else to get fresh air and splash water on his face. Poor guy! The funny thing is, a half hour later, we had finished watching all three birthing videos. The nurse asked, "So what did you guys think about the videos?" and Stephen, yes Stephen, was the FIRST to pipe up and respond with, "Oh, it wasn't bad AT all - not what I was orginally expecting." haha, complete reversal of 30 minutes ago.
All in all, the birthing classes were very beneificial for both of us. Stephen was more pumped about delivery on the way home, trying to sooth my own fears by telling me "You're going to do so well and all the discomfort and pain will be worth it in the end." I just love that man! :) Let's hope he WILL make it through delivery...I will need his support, haha! We also met another couple who is due super close to us, November 2nd, AND with the same doctor as us, Dr. Bahnmiller. They are having a little girl and also delivering at the same hospital, Kadlec. We joked about going into labor at the same time and being right next door to one another so our doctor could run back and forth, haha! We exchanged numbers so we can keep in touch over this final month and hopefully after our little ones are born too.
Yesterday, October 4th, exactly one month from our due date, we pre-registered and toured the birthing center at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. We have all our our paperwork filled out, so when the time comes we can head straight to the birthing center and get the party started, haha! What a magical party it will be :)
Monday, we also had our maternity photos taken with the amazing, Sandie Salisbury. She took some breath-taking first family photos for us and I am SO excited to share them all with you once she is finished with editing. You may have already seen her sneak peak album on Facebook, too. Simply incredible - LOVE them!
His nursery is darn well near finished...it has been such a fun summer project! I will be sure to take pictures and update soon for you all to see. Well, that's all for now! This month will is filled with many last minute FUN times and we will stay up to date with posts and babies delivery as we get closer....stayyyy tuned y'all! XO
